Aging is something that we accept intellectually but resist emotionally. Though we welcome the wisdom that comes with age, most of us don’t love what those years do to our health and our look. The sad thing is, we can never really turn back time nor can we make it stand still. One thing we can do however is to roll with the changing times and do something to control the changes on our bodies as much as we can.

Do you want to look as good as you can for as long as you can? Here are some tips to look much younger than our actual age… not only to look young, but feel younger as well.

Watch What You Eat

You hear it all the time, you are what you eat. You should practise a healthy, nutritious diet. Proper nutrition is key to looking your best and living a longer, healthy life. If you try to starve yourself intentionally just to lose weight in order to look younger, chances are you will fail miserably. Our advice is, eat moderately to get balanced nutrition while maintaining your youthful vitality with proper supplements.

Shed off extra pounds

If you are significantly overweight, losing weight in a healthy manner can give you a youthful, toned silhouette. Extra weight can show your age, as it is a visible sign of your slowing metabolism. Counteract the aging effect of extra weight by losing extra weight slowly and exercising to tone your muscles. Just don't lose too much weight in a short period, or you may have additional wrinkles to contend with.

Exercise regularly to improve body shape and muscle tone

Regular exercise can help you build stronger muscles, stave off chronic illnesses, and make your clothes fit a whole lot better, even moderate amounts of exercise seem to shave years off your age.

Keep your skin hydrated internally and externally

Drink water, water, and more water! Water helps flush out toxins from the body and plays an important role in maintaining healthy, youthful skin. Meanwhile, keep your skin hydrated externally as well by applying moisturiser as dry skin will age faster.

Protect your skin from harmful sun rays

Protect your skin from the UVA/UVB rays which are harmful to your skin because they aid in the aging process by breaking down collagen. So, make sure to take supplement to maintain youthful and healthy skin such as collagen and put on sunscreen an hour before you step outside.

Groom yourself

A change of hairstyle, hair colour and dressing style may trim years off your look. If you want to look younger, look your best at home and in public. Do put on some light make up too.

Get plenty of sleep, rest often when you feel tired

Sleep and rest is the body's way of recharging the system. It has beneficial effects by reducing reaction times to everyday events and helps you to prevent age-related diseases. Sleep is also an excellent stress buster, which can be another factor in the aging process.

De-stress to calm the years away

Chronic unmanageable stress wreaks havoc on our bodies and makes us feel old before our time.  It has been linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, and skin inflammation.  Stress has also been shown to suppress our immune system, making us more prone to illness and disease. Anything you do to manage and alleviate stress will have a positive impact on how you look and feel as you age.

Your Brain: Use It or Lose It

We not only should keep our body young, we should keep our mind sharp and active too. Anything that continually stimulates your mind and keeps you learning new things is helpful to keep your brain active. It's hard not to appear old when you seem to be stuck in the last century and know very little of the modern world.

Learn to have a positive, rather than negative attitude

The way you think, reflects on the way you look. Frowning causes wrinkles faster than smiling and makes you look less attractive. Keep smiling, be happy and enjoy life to the fullest... When you smile it can take years off instantly. Do not forget to maintain healthy teeth and fresh breath so that you can smile as bright and confident as always!
